“MCA Honors Cricket Legends with Stand Dedications at Wankhede Stadium”

On May 16, 2025,To honor three cricket legends Sharad Pawar, Rohit Sharma, and Ajit Wadekar, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) unveiled newly named stands at Wankhede Stadium. The Sharad Pawar Stand was dedicated to the former MCA President for his significant contribution to stadium development and cricket administration

The Mumbai-born cricketer’s international achievements, including his World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy victories, were celebrated by the Rohit Sharma Stand।

The Ajit Wadekar Stand honored the deceased Indian captain for his leadership in India’s historic 1971 Test victories abroad। Also, in honor of former MCA President Amol Kale, the MCA Office Lounge was inaugurated। The event, which was attended by dignitaries including CM Devendra Fadnavis,The announcement of a possible new, larger cricket stadium in Mumbai was also attended by MCA President Ajinkya Naik and the Wadekar and Kale families।

Ajinkya Naik emphasized maintaining Mumbai’s cricketing heritage as Wankhede celebrates 50 years, while Sharad Pawar suggested an international-level cricket museum to honor the city’s rich history। MCA’s commitment to honoring its pioneers and inspiring future cricket generations was emphasized by this significant occasion।
